Kate is a twenty year veteran of the technology industry. She has spent the majority of her career working in the consumer electronics and medical device fields. Kate leads the Apple Audio Hardware Team and several other hardware teams within Apple, Inc.. The team is responsible for the hardware engineering of Appleís AirPods, HomePod, SoftGoods, and Apple Packaging and Retail Display Engineering.

Kate began her Apple career in 2002 as a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the first 17î Powerbook computer. After the 17î Powerbook, she moved to the iBook team, where the 12î and 14î notebook products set new volume, quality, and price points for Apple. Since that time, her teams have shipped over seventy Macintosh models spanning notebooks, desktops, and stand-alone displays. This past spring Kate moved into a new role with the Audio Team and has been diligently working with these teams and to deliver more exciting products.

Prior to Apple, Kate was a mechanical engineer at Palo Alto Design Group / Flextronics. She was a team member on the original Microsoft X-Box and the first generation ViewSonic LCD monitors.

Kate holds an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado – Boulder, an S.B. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from MIT. She is a co-lecturer of the MIT D-Lab class ìDesign for Scaleî. In her spare time, Kate spends a significant amount of time on the Ultimate field coaching and photographing her daughters Liza (15) and Maeryn (12).
